I can't believe it's almost Christmas

This year has flown by. My house isn't showing any signs of Christmas just yet. Well, there is a big red bow on my front door but I stuck that on there just to get it off my dining room table and so my neighbors don't think I'm being a Scrooge. I'm not going all out with the decorations this year though. I'm going to be a bit conservative in that department. There are some job issues going on that are keeping me from spendning money on things we don't need right now and saving is more along the lines of what we need to be doing. So that's what we will do.

But come next Christmas.....WATCH OUT. That's all I gotta say. We have a neighborhood competition with the decorations and I am determined that next year....we will win first prize. Thankfully most of our neighbors decorate their houses early so I'll just let them do their thing and then at the last minute deck mine out and knock their socks off. LOL It won't be National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation tacky but it will be cool. I'm already getting some ideas.

I can't wait for Christmas to get here. We bought Keigan....um, I mean, Santa is going to bring Keigan a cool kitchen set. I can't wait to see the excitement on his face. He played with it in the store and I literally had to drag him out of it kicking and screaming. This is the one we got for him. I mean, the one Santa is bringing him. ;)

Eddie wasn't to sure about getting this for him.  But seriously, I see nothing wrong with it.  It's not just a "girls" toy.  I think it'll be a great thing for him to have.  He loves to pretend to cook and make stuff for other people.  I think it's too cute.  And like I said...he LOVES this thing.  This will probably be the best thing we have ever bought for him. 

Now hurry up Christmas......I wanna play in Keigan's kitchen with him.  :)

The Mold Room

So, for those of you that know all about our house issues, you'll know what room I am referring to. For those you that have no idea...long story short we bought this house in June 2002 and shortly after moving in we experienced a leak in our front bedroom. Our lovely (NOT) builder did nothing to help us out and subsequently we ended up with a room we couldn't use. It was a mess. There was some mold and half the carpet was taken out because it was soaking wet and no hope of getting it dry before it too became moldy. We ended up filing a lawsuit against the builder and after years of battling it out our court date arrived.....on the same day I was to be induced with Keigan. Needless to say, he was our priority and we ended up dropping the suit (there's more to that, wasn't just because of Keigan's due date). So Keigan arrived and for nearly three more years the room sat, used as a storage room. Until this past weekend. I had plans for the room and a little bit at a time I bought things for it. Curtains, decals, flooring......and finally I had all the things needed to make my ideas a reality. So we got to work. We primed, sanded, painted and after a lot of hard work.....that eyesore of a room that has been sitting unused for 8 years is now my (okay, and Keigan's too) favorite room in the whole house. I can't stop going in there and looking at it. It's so cool.

Here's the room before. Actually, this is after we ripped out the other half of the carpet and painted kilz on the floor to help seal it. But you can see what we were working with. One picture even shows some of the mold on the ceiling which has been taken care of. The first photo shows the lovely yellow smoke detector, turned that color by the bright sunlight shining into that room (the shade you see hanging up is brand new to the room, we just had sheer curtains in there before).












And the after? Here you to......isn't it adorable???? Everything on the wall is a decal. The tree isn't the prettiest but it's our own original creation....ie the directions didn't explain how to piece together the billion pieces it came in. I think we did pretty good job all things considering.

So hard to believe that's the same room, isn't it? Keigan absolutely loves playing in there now. Matter of fact, when I was applying the grass decals (which has done a number on my back and butt muscles.....don't know how it affected those muscles but it did) he kept saying "I LOVE GRASS" and kissing me on the forehead. It was too cute.

Thought this would be fun
